Band

Loftus Public School has an exciting instrumental program where children learn to play a musical instrument through group tutorials and concert band performances, all conducted at the school. There are two bands operating: the Performing Band (for students who have played for more than twelve months) and the Training Band, (a beginner band for those who have never played before).

Engadine Music Education Centre provides the conductor, tutors and the teaching program, fully administers rolls and collection of tuition fees. Band rehearsals are currently run on Wednesday mornings before school for both the Training and Performing Bands. Tutorials are then run either Wednesday mornings or lunchtime, or Thursday mornings. Students are expected to attend their band rehearsal as well as their designated tutorial each week as well as maintain adequate practice outside of school hours.

Students are given various opportunities to perform throughout the year, both informally and formally at events such as Education Week, Grandparent's Day and BandFest.

Some of the instruments currently included are Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Clarinet, Keyboard, Flutes, Bass Guitar and Percussion instruments. This program offers a great opportunity for your child to enjoy learning an instrument at school.
